San Fernando Valley Professional School is a unique college preparatory school dedicated to ensuring that its students achieve a strong academic education , while enabling them to meet their professional goals. Many of our students are actively working in the entertainment industry as actors, singers, musicians, dancers and athletes.
Our school allows students to excel in their academic performance and maintain active and flourishing careers. Taught by trained teachers in a classroom setting our students are able to benefit through traditional instruction of class lecture and discussion, group projects, field trips and peer socialization. Due to the demands of their schedules the typical public and private schools are not able to offer a workable program, which meets both their academic and professional requirements. We provide strong fundamental academics, supplemented with traditional values and the acceptance of creativity and self-expression. Our staff of trained teachers provides a complete and comprehensive standards based curriculum from elementary through high school. Students are given the opportunity to develop their critical thinking and reasoning, language, study, and especially time management skills. Without our unique and innovative school, many of these students would be forced to get their education through on-line schooling or independent study, thus missing out on the benefit of an in-classroom student/teacher learning experience
SFVPS is also able to offer a low student-to-teacher ratio in our classrooms. This allows teacher the opportunity to provide individualized instruction and attention to students to ensure their success. As we continue to meet the academic requirements of today’s education, our administration is constantly working to offer a variety of programs. Our high school students have the opportunity to take AP and UC certified courses, while preparing for the SAT and ACT college tests
One of the unique benefits at SFVPS is the ability to receive a strong education through a blend of flexibility, encouragement and guidance that allows all students to reach their fullest potential. The flexibility of class schedules and our open-enrollment policy adds great diversity to our student body. For example, during the pilot season (January – March), students from all across the United States come to Hollywood for auditions and/or filing. We are able to integrate them into the necessary classes, so they can continue with their course of study during their stay. This diversity in our student body creates a unique learning environment, as students from different parts of the country have the opportunity to come together and share their experiences, which may be unique to their home state
One of our goals is to stimulate the desire for our students to be an active part of their community. Students are required to volunteer a specific number of hours within the community as a part of their graduation requirements. SFVPS utilizes a variety of outreach programs that enable our student to offer their talents and time, encouraging a community connection that will hopefully last a lifetime. Our ultimate goal is to be able to provide our students with a strong academic program that enables them to maintain their busy schedules and become well-rounded academic learners.
